K+S Transport GmbH, a subsidiary of K+S Group, Kassel specialising in potash-fertilizer and salt, operates a handling facility in the Port of Hamburg. Every year approximately 450 ocean-going and inland waterway vessels are handled at 'Kalikai'. As well as up to 45,000 containers carrying K+S products are exported from the container terminals in Hamburg. In addition to the handling and storage some 4.5 million tons are handled water-side including cargo handled by K+S for third parties. The terminal has flat ground storage space and silos. Land-side modes of transport include rail, with block trains and trucks for local transportation of bulk goods. -
