“Afif“

The mega-carrier of the German shipping line Hapag-Lloyd sails under the flag of the Marschal Islands. With a total slot capacity of 15,000 TEU including 1,000 connections for reefer containers, the “Afif“ belongs to the Neopanamax class and with its dimensions could still pass through the new locks of the Panama Canal. The full containership is powered by a MAN-B&W main engine with an output of almost 55,000 kilowatts, which accelerates the 370-meter-long ship to a cruising speed of 22 knots. The ship was built in Smho, Korea.

The “Afif“ is currently sailing in the weekly liner service of "THE Alliance" in the Asia-Europe service FE4. In addition to Hapag-Lloyd, the shipping lines Yang Ming and ONE are involved in the service, and HMM has booked slots on the service. Nine containerships, each with a slot capacity of just under 15,000 TEU, are currently in service. “Afif“ is a guest in the Port of Hamburg approximately every 84 days.
