Cruise ships are impressive. What is also impressive is what happens behind the scenes when beds are changed. We were there with the camera when around 2,500 guests left the AIDA Sol in Hamburg and just as many went on board for the coming voyage. The entire crew prepared the ship for departure in the evening, 180 tons of provisions had to be brought on board and all rooms had to be cleaned. During the layover in the port, the AIDA Sol was supplied with emission-free shore power. Manfred Lebmeier from the Hamburg Port Authority talks in this PORT IS WHAT WE DO-film about the importance of shore power for the air pollution control plan.
