Port Council elects new UVHH President

On 11 February 2025, the Port Council of the Hamburg Port Business Association (UVHH) unanimously elected Rainer Fabian as its new president. Rainer Fabian, Managing Director of H.D. Cotterell GmbH & Co. KG, succeeds Ulfert Cornelius, who stepped down at the end of January 2025 due to a career change.
Rainer Fabian, President of the Hamburg Port Business Association, expressed his gratitude to the members of the Port Council for their trust and thanked his predecessor, Ulfert Cornelius, for his years of dedication to the UVHH board, most recently as its president:
“I will continue the trusting and cooperative work of Ulfert Cornelius. As a long-standing member of the board, I am well acquainted with the issues the association has dealt with in recent years, ensuring a smooth transition. The UVHH will remain a constructive partner for Hamburg’s policymakers,” Fabian continued. “The UVHH is and will remain the strong voice of the Hamburg port industry.”
Background Information
For more than 70 years, the UVHH has represented the shared economic and port policy interests of its members towards policymakers, public authorities, and the general public. In its additional role as an employers’ association, it also advocates for the labour law, collective bargaining, and social policy concerns of affiliated companies. The UVHH unites more than 100 Hamburg port handling companies and businesses engaged in related upstream and downstream activities.
The association is a partner of the “Zukunft Elbe” initiative and one of the key supporters of the Environmental Partnership Hamburg.
