Great variety of exhibitors on the “Gateway Hamburg” trade fair stand at transport logistic 2015 in Munich

Between 5 and 8 May around 50 companies from the port, transport and logistics industry in Hamburg and the region will be showcasing under the joint “Gateway Hamburg” umbrella at transport logistic 2015 in Munich, the world’s largest logistics trade fair. The great variety of exhibitors will reflect Hamburg’s immense range of services as an universal port and logistics base: Terminals for containers, bulk and multi-purpose cargoes, shipping companies; and liner agents; rail operators; transport service providers; container packing companies; experts on hazardous cargoes, chemicals and the environment; vocational and further training establishments; and much more. The stand organized by Port of Hamburg Marketing and Logistics Initiative Hamburg will be located at the centre of Hall B3 (Stand 209/310). A total of over 1,900 exhibitors from all over the world are expected for transport logistic on the Neue Messe München site.

Port of Hamburg Marketing (HHM) is introducing its new Internet portal www.hafen-hamburg.de in good time for transport logistic 2015. This re-structured online portal is notable for modern design and intuitive menu guidance and has been optimized for smartphones and tablets. One special highlight is the brand new Port Plan that enables ship movements and the status of road traffic in the Port of Hamburg to be monitored in realtime. The system contains data on over 25,000 vessels, along with background information. On shore, webcams convey current traffic status on the roads. The range is supplemented by news of planned roadworks and up-to-the minute traffic bulletins. The portal PORTlog.de is also presented along with online entry under the domain hafen-hamburg.de. Just two years ago, the PORTlog.de directory went on line for transport logistic 2013. PORTlog enables customers, for example firms in trade and industry, to locate rapidly and precisely the right suppliers for their imports and exports of transport, cargo handling, warehousing and other services in Hamburg, the Metropolitan Region and along the transport chain. Over 800 companies from 40 different industries meanwhile offer their services through this.

The “Gateway Hamburg Fair Talk” will be an additional highlight. On the first three days of the fair, these 15-minute talk shows with representatives of the port and logistics industry, the public sector and the world of politics will be held four times a day on the “Gateway Hamburg” stand. Just a few of the exciting topics up for discussion will be smartPORT, system innovations for handling mega-containerships, Hamburg’s candidature for the Olympics that will lead to restructuring measures in its port area, further development of environmentally friendly hinterland services, and current developments in the Port of Hamburg’s core markets, e.g. the Baltic region. Journalist Björn Helmke will be acting as host. The “Gateway Hamburg” stand will cover 950 square metres. This makes it one of the largest exhibitor areas at this international trade fair for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management. Among those represented on separate sections of the stand will be Hamburg Port Authority, Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) and BUSS Group.

Germany’s largest universal port

The Port of Hamburg is among Europe’s most flexible and top performing universal ports. Hamburg offers suitable handling facilities for loads of all types, from containers to bulk and project cargoes, to liquid cargoes and dangerous goods. There also special terminals for RoRo cargo and for handling valuable waste and recyclables. At over 50 facilities, state-of-the-art handling technologies and highly trained staff guarantee swift and safe goods handling.

Hamburg’s terminals handled around 146 million tons of seaborne cargoes in 2014. In handling 9.7 million TEU (standard containers), Hamburg is also Europe’s second largest container port, which also consolidated its 15th place among the world’s largest container ports.
