The Schierlings-Wasserfenchel (hemlock water fennel) has a new home on Billwerder Island. Hamburg's Senator for Economic Affairs Michael Westhagemann and HPA CEO Jens Meier planted the last seedlings themselves. For two years, two former water harvesting basins were converted to provide ideal living conditions for the rare plant. This HPA project is one of three ecological compensation measures in connection with the fairway adjustment of the Elbe. You can learn more about it in this episode of "PORT IS WHAT WE DO".
