Representative Office Hong Kong
The Port of Hamburg – China’s most important European hub for imports and exports
The Port of Hamburg is the leading seaport in Europe for China's foreign trade. Almost one-third of all containers passing through Germany’s largest seaport have China as their destination or origin. Among the most transported groups of goods, both on the import and export side, are foodstuffs and luxury goods, chemical products, machinery and equipment as well as household appliances, wood products, paper, cardboard and printed matter as well as metals and metal products. Chinese companies particularly appreciate the Port of Hamburg's very good connections to the European hinterland, especially to Central and Eastern Europe.
Activities of the representative office in Hong Kong
Port of Hamburg Marketing`s two offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong represent the interests of Hamburg's seaport and the adjacent transport industry in the Chinese market – especially by establishing and maintaining contacts with Chinese logistics and shipping companies, industry, trade and associations. The representative office in Hong Kong concentrates its activities on the markets of Hong Kong and South China and is particularly committed to deepening economic and political relations between the trading metropolises of Hamburg and Hong Kong as well as Shenzhen. Furthermore, the markets of Southeast Asia fall within the scope of the representative office in Hong Kong.
The local representatives support the interests of Port of Hamburg Marketing’s member companies in the Chinese market. They organise delegation trips, company visits, events and trade fairs, and offer their support in, for instance, setting up businesses, contractual and legal matters, or finding business partners.
In addition, the representative offices are the first point of contact for Chinese companies to obtain general information about the Port of Hamburg, to establish contacts and to organise visits to the Port of Hamburg and the ports of the metropolitan region.
