The Port of Hamburg is Germany's largest all-purpose port. Its strength and ability to compete is largely thanks to the port industry, transport, logistics and industrial companies, working there today. Many of them are members of the Port of Hamburg Marketing association.

With enormous commitment and diverse activities the Marketing association and its members advertise the attractiveness of the location and diversity of services in the Port of Hamburg with its excellent hinterland connections. Equally, the Port Marketing association represents its member's interests through focussed communication, project and marketing activities in Hamburg and the important target markets. All their activities are impartial and competitively neutral, addressing the common interests of the port location as a whole.

HHLA Container Terminal Altenwerder GmbH

The HHLA Container Terminal Altenwerder went into operation in 2002 and since then has been amongst the cutting-edge and most efficient container terminals in the world. Processes on the one square kilometre large terminal are mainly automatic. Driverless Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) move the containers around the site and software-controlled portal cranes sort them into storage blocks. The adjacent Kombi-Transeuropa Terminal Hamburg (KTH) is by far the largest German rail terminal. Seven tracks each 720-metres long are available for handling block trains.

HHLA Container Terminal Burchardkai GmbH

HHLA Container Terminal Burchardkai (CTB) in Waltershof, is the cradle of container handling in the Port of Hamburg. In 1968 the first containership tied up there, just as the latest generation of ultra-large containerships do today. CTB with an area of around 1.4 square kilometres is the largest container handling facility in Hamburg. The terminal area is used efficiently with a mix of conventional storage space and automatic container block storage. Hundreds of containers are handled at the intermodal facility, which links the terminal to the European railway network.

HHLA Container Terminal Tollerort, occupies the smallest area of all container terminals in Hamburg, but it is recognised as achieving very high performance, and is innovative and flexible. The rail terminal is equipped with a portal crane system that facilitates handling block trains on curved tracks. A total of five block-train tracks are available. With state-of-the-art gantry cranes at Tollerort large containerships with a capacity of up to 23,000 TEU can be loaded and discharged.

ADM Hamburg belongs to the Archer Daniels Midland Group. At their terminal in Hamburg they handle feedstuffs, grains, oil-seeds and vegetable oil. The facility is among the highest performers for silo handling in Germany. In addition the terminal has the largest oil-seed processing plant and refinery complex in Europe. They use rape seed and soya beans in processing and refining margarine, vegetable oil, bakery products, cooking oils, pharmaceutical glycerine and biodiesel. ADM is a leading producer of biodiesel in Germany and Europe.

The Warehousing- and Stevedoring company Lübeck Distribution GmbH (LDG) was founded in 1997 by the Lübecker Hafen-Gesellschaft (LHG) and the forwarders Lüders & Stange (each 50%). The LDG is competed to offer clever logistic solutions in consideration of competitive warehousing- and handling rates. LDG provides warehousing and stevedoring services at the LHG terminals Nordlandkai, Seelandkai and Skandinavienkai. The terminals of LDG are situated close to Ro/Ro vessel’s berths and operate as cross docking centers, nearly all have their own side track. The personal offers a high expert know how in reloading of break bulk and mixed cargo, lashing and securing of cargo. The vehicle fleet covers all types of fork lift trucks up to 32 to, containers, spreaders, Tug Master etc. Based on the forwarding background the whole supply chain can be offered.

Lübecker Hafen-Gesellschaft mbH (LHG) runs the public-sector ports docks in the Hanseatic City of Lübeck and is Germany's largest port operator on the Baltic.
The Port of Lübeck is the most southwesterly transhipment centre on the Baltic and performs as pooling point for the transport corridors between Southern, Western and Central Europe and the Baltic economic area.

LHG's terminals offer up to 80 departures a week to 20 partner ports around the Baltic and therefore guarantee the highest possible delivery reliability. The most varied types and flows of goods pass through the terminals of LHG, 365 days a year on their way to and from Scandinavia, central and south-west Europe and the Baltic region.
Alongside its core business, port cargo handling, stowage and warehousing, along with its subsidiaries and affiliates LHG as a modern logistics group offers a broad range of services. LHG network traffic systems on land and water seamlessly. For every customer and every
Lübeck's strength in that respect consists of its Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) services, or freight in rapid

Hansaport's dry bulk terminal is specialised in handling coal and ore. Compared internationally, it is highly automated, making it one of the especially high-performance handlers for dry bulk. The dry bulk is carried inland using two of the most environmentally-friendly modes of transport, rail and inland waterways. Hansaport's rail loading terminal sends more than a dozen ore trains to the steel works in Salzgitter and Eisenhüttenstadt daily.

The ISO-certified company is offering all kind of services for vessels transitting the Kiel-Canal, like for example registration wth the Kiel-Canal authorities, ordering pilots in time as well as all kind of services for vessels calling at the ports of Kiel, Rendsburg and Brunsbüttel. All types of vessels get attendance, whether in connection with cargo operations, repairs/calls at shipyard, crew change, storing or other reasons. The services are requested by shipowners as well as charterers, insurance companies/pandi-clubs and other maritime parties.
