Port of Hamburg Magazine: Port Services

Keeping all the wheels turning in the complex environment of a port needs many companies, and not all of them are constantly in the limelight. The personnel service provider GHB belongs to this category. This enterprise has provided a social security net to former day labourers in the port industry since the 1950s. Alongside this, GHB helps its employees to acquire modern qualifications. Colleagues at all terminals therefore enjoy equal rights, even if they only fill in from one day to the next. Our informative article will give you an idea of the roles that these employees play in the port network.

Automation and digitalisation call for completely new approaches. Many digital services that benefit the port have emerged in recent years. In the SANTANA project, the Hamburg Port Authority and the software company Dakosy are collaborating with associated partners from the port to connect the worlds of port infrastructure and logistics. It has created a marketplace for digital services. We interviewed project managers Phanthian Zuesongdham and Evelyn Eggers to learn more about the results of the development phase. The findings are accessible at www.marketplace. hamburg.
