Port of Hamburg Magazine: Port. Metropolis. Hamburg.

More than five million people live, work and reside in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. They benefit to a large extent from Hamburg's economic potency. The Hanseatic city is considered an attractive urban space with considerable potential as an innovation hub and a liveable environment. Together with its surrounding region, it is also considered the largest interconnected industrial area in northern Europe.

Many companies reap the rewards of close cooperation between the various players in the Metropolitan Region. They attach great importance to launching projects that promote sustainability. The Hamburg Metropolitan Region Office is a living example of this cooperation. It brings together over 1,000 towns, 20 districts and independent cities, four federal states, businesses and social organisations. The fascinating article about our Metropolitan Region outlines the potential found here. This also includes our partner ports, of course.

The region's ports ensure far more than just short import and export routes. They also operate at the interface between the various modes of transport. What’s more, the facilities provide space for modern, efficient companies in the port industry. Their innovative and creative power ensures a smooth supply chain to the manufacturing industry.

Companies from the Metropolitan Region will showcase their talents at this year’s transport logistic in Munich. The world's largest logistics trade fair opens its doors on 2 June 2025. Providing space for more than 40 companies, the large joint stand run by the Hamburg Logistics Initiative and the Port of Hamburg Marketing will also feature prominently. We hope to meet many of you at the Gateway Hamburg stand in Hall B3.
