The Port of Hamburg is the city’s top employer. 130,000 people work directly or indirectly in, or for, the port – which is almost 11 percent of all jobs in the Hanseatic City. The occupations are variegated: Terminal operators, port service providers, transport firms, forwarders, logistics companies or port-related industrial enterprises offer an abundance of jobs and professions.
In general the port is subject to constant change and so are the employment opportunities as well. The transition from sail to steam was a major change back then. Nowadays the port has to deal with the digitisation, which requests modifications. In this latest edition of our magazine we throw light on the resulting challenges and chances, for example in relation to gain specialist staff. These and more fascinating topics about “Working in the Port” are waiting for you in our magazine.
