#SeafarersAreKeyWorkersOne week after “The day of seafarers” the situation of seafarers worldwide did not change significantly. Even though seafarers in Hamburg are now allowed to visit the Seamen's Club Duckdalben again and Germany is a pioneer in terms of crew changes, there is - nevertheless - the impression that greater international efforts are still needed to grant seafarers a special status in such a crisis. The problems surrounding crew changes must finally be solved and a longer-term solutions must be found so that seafarers never again have to spend months on board with a lot of uncertainty about their contract.
#coronaportconcerts showed seafarers in Hamburg, Kiel and Rostock: You are not forgotten! Very emotional moments, just have a look here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBRDnaomcZg
After the great success of the last Port Concerts, we like present a second edition of the #coronaportconcerts for seafarers on 5th July starting at 6 p.m. Music comes from a great band "Nervling" from Hamburg. New on this tour: During the transit routes between the ships there will have a brief talk on the topic: "Seafarers as keyworkers in international supply chains - what else has to happen before crew changes can finally be made easier?"
In conversation with:
- Fiete Sturm, Seafarers chaplain HH-Altona
- Michael Eden, Marlow Navigation
