Port Bronka hosted the naming ceremony for the Christophe de Margerie tanker

Vladimir Putin attended the naming ceremony for the Arctic LNG carrier Christophe de Margerie, the lead vessel in a series of 15 tankers. The event was held at deepwater port Bronka (Big Port St. Petersburg) on 3 June 2017.

The ceremony was also attended by Chairperson of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matvienko; Russian Minister of Transport Maxim Sokolov; Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin; Chairman of the Management Board of  PAO Novatek Leonid Mikhelson; President of Total Patrick Pouyanne; management of PAO Sovcomflot and port Bronka; family members of Christophe de Margerie, etc.

The vessel is named in the honor of Christophe de Margerie, a French entrepreneur and former Total CEO, who tragically died in 2014.

The Arctic LNG tanker Christophe de Margerie, a flagship in a line of 15 similar vessels has been designed for year-round transportation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as part of the Yamal LNG project. The vessel's deadweight is 80,200 t, length - 299 m, width - 50 m, height - 26.5 m, maximum draft - 11.8 m, speed - 19,5 knots, capacity - 172,600 cbm. The tanker can be operated at temperatures as low as minus 50 degrees C being able to break through ice of up to 2.1 m thick.
