Founded on September 15, 1897, as a one-man company in the Brandsweite in Hamburg, the company has since become one of the ten leading ocean freight forwarding companies in the world and a global logistics provider with more than 50 locations and 725 employees worldwide. Despite these impressive numbers, the two letter at the front of its name, “Fr.” still make people wonder today. The abbreviation does not stand for the German words “Frau” (woman) or “Firma” (company) or the name Franz. It stands for “Friedrich”, the father of the company's founder.
The company became the global company it is today primarily thanks to its market leadership in paper logistics. Heavy and difficult goods have always been a part of the company’s core business. These core competencies can also be applied to steel, agricultural products and consumables – industries in which the company also has customers today. The company's offers have grown continuously with customer requirements – from air freight services to the introduction of the ISO container to special loading tools for the paper industry. To meet customer needs in term of digitalization as well, the company introduced its own platform for visualizing and optimizing individual supply chains in 2015.
