16 Nov 2020 09:22 Economy

Industry experts from logistics, mobility, aviation and hydrogen from Tel Aviv and Hamburg will be meeting for a digital conference on 1 and 2 December. The conference will be hosted as part of the Hamburg on Tour event series and is aimed at strengthening collaboration between the two cities.

This year's Hamburg on Tour event focuses on ways in which innovation can contribute to improving our cities and our environment. Together with the German-Israeli Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Hamburg Startup Unit invites audiences to join a digital roadshow, with core topics ranging from logistics and mobility to aviation and hydrogen.

The goal is to jointly develop new, groundbreaking solutions for our future cities. Acclaimed startups from Tel Aviv as well as pioneering players from both cities will be discussing the challenges for the economy and society of tomorrow. Partners of the event include the German-Israeli Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Israel Smart Cities Institute as well as numerous other innovative institutions from Israel and Germany. The event will be hosted by the German-Israeli Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Hamburg Startup Unit. The digital conference will be opened by Hamburg's Minister for Economic Affairs, Michael Westhagemann, as well as Michal Michaeli, Director of International Economic Development at Tel Aviv Global, and Dr Rolf Strittmatter, Managing Director of Hamburg Invest.

We are all living in turbulent times. More than ever, cities play a crucial role in addressing some of today’s most challenging questions. Hamburg is one of the most liveable cities and a magnet for companies, investors, startups and young talent – and thus the perfect place to realise your ideas. At the same time, all major cities are facing considerable challenges, such as the task of developing innovative mobility solutions and tackling climate change. Israel features a higher startup-per-capita rate than any other country in the world. For many years, great efforts have been made at city and national levels to consolidate and accelerate the country‘s transformation towards a science and innovation nation. Tel Aviv, Israel‘s startup hotspot, is therefore an ideal partner for Hamburg's startup scene.
