On February 3rd, the CMA CGM TANYA – the newest vessel of the 536-strong containership fleet of CMA CGM – has called Hamburg for the very first time. Delivered in 2016, the 300-meter long vessel CMA CGM TANYA will be deployed in the newly introduced EUROSAL XL service where it operates between South America’s west coast and Europe. Moreover, the 10,000-TEU vessel provides perfect conditions for the shipment of refrigerated goods.

When the CMA CGM TANYA has called at the Burchardkai Terminal in the Port of Hamburg on February 3rd for the first time, it already came a long way: Through the English Channel, across the Atlantic Ocean and through the Panama Canal whose new locks allow the transit of vessels of this size since the completion of the Canal expansion past year. Only delivered in 2016 with a total length of 300 meters and a width of 48 meters, the CMA CGM TANYA is perfectly adapted for the Panama Canal and its new locks. Besides, the ship also qualifies ideally for the navigational challenges and commercial requirements of the EUROSAL XL service where it operates between South America’s west coast and Europe.

The CMA CGM TANYA is an essential component of CMA CGM’s EUROSAL XL service, a superb service directly connecting the South American countries Chile, Peru, Colombia and Ecuador with Mexico and major ports in Europe: Rotterdam, London, Hamburg, Antwerp und Le Havre. With best transit times and just in time for the South American harvest season, the service provides ideal conditions for the shipment of refrigerated products such as fresh fruits, vegetables, meat and seafood. A great number of reefer plugs is readily available on all deployed ships – more than 35,000 tons of temperature-sensitive goods can be shipped by the CMA CGM TANYA alone. Highly modern eco-friendly technologies come to practice: Besides high capacity and enhanced cargo security, the deployed reefer containers are equipped with state-of-the-art low-emission cooling technologies that meet the sustainability requirements of CMA CGM Group.

From Hamburg, customers can revert to CMA CGM’s and OPDR’s intra-European services which offer an extensive coverage of the entire Scandinavian, Baltic and Russian area. On February 4th, the CMA CGM TANYA has left the Port of Hamburg for a few more European stopovers and finally starts her 11-day journey back across the Atlantic Ocean before setting course for South America’s west coast as part of the EUROSAL XL service.
