30 Mar 2016 08:00 Shipping News

With the maiden call of m/v "CHIPOLBROK PACIFIC", calling at Hamburg on 27/3 and departing on 30/3, Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping Co. Shanghai / Gdynia has ushered in a new era in the global project, heavy lift and general cargo sea transportation. It is the first new vessel of a quartet still to be delivered within 2016. Number two in this serial, "NOWOWIEJSKI", has been supplied to owners at Shanghai on 28/3 and will be set into service on 5/4 with a trip to Europe via Suez Canal. "CHIPOLBROK ATLANTIC" will follow in May and "PADEREWSKI" in July.

These ships have remarkable parameters which put all previous vessel of a fleet of currently 19 multi-purpose heavy geared vessels in the shade. Length is 190m, breadth 28m and height from keel to main deck 15.50m. The cargo carrying capacity is 31,600ts, displacement 45,000ts, 43,000cbm space in cargo compartments and three cranes portside of each 350ts safe working load which can lift in tandem operation up to 700ts unit weight. The Wärtsilä main engine creates 16,500hp by 99 revolutions and a daily consumption of abt. 30ts IFO by 15.6knots travel speed.

These four new vessels are planned to replace older triple deck tonnage built between 1991 and 1998 and enforce Chipolbrok's liner activities between China, Far East and South East Asia to Europe and US Gulf, from US Gulf to Europe, from Europe to Mid East, India, South East Asia, China and Far East with an average sailing frequency of two up to three sailings a month ex Hamburg.

The owners are represented in Germany by Ernst Glässel GmbH Hamburg and Bremen (as member of the Menzell-Döhle Group) acting as General Agents whilst port agents in Hamburg are Reinhold Bange GmbH & Co. KG.

During the stay of the “CHIPOLBROK PACIFIC” at the Port of Hamburg, Capt. Pollmann presented the Chinese Captain with the official badge of Hamburg aboard. Despite his career at Chipolbrok is lasting over 36 years, it was probably a moment of special remembrance for him.

The vessel was loaded with around 4,600ts of project cargo, general cargo and construction material. During his travel, it is going to call Antwerp, Leixoes, Ravenna, Porto Maghera and then Jeddah, Mumbai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Haiphong, Shanghai and Busan before heading back to Europe via China.
