ITS World Congress 2021 Hamburg
The ITS World Congress is the most important international industry event in the field of intelligent transport systems and services (ITS). Experts from the mobility, logistics and IT sectors as well as representatives from politics and associations convened in Hamburg from 11 to 15 October 2021.
The congress took place under the motto "Experience Future Mobility Now". Some key areas of the ITS World Congress were:
- Automated, cooperative and connected mobility: i.e. the transition from driver to automated and autonomous driving in cars, buses or trains.
- Mobility services (Mobility as a Service and Mobility on Demand): the combination of many mobility services (e.g. taxi, rental bike, e-scooter, public transport) into one service, or the development of new mobility applications.
- Digital port and logistics solutions - using the example of the Port of Hamburg as Germany's largest and Europe's third-largest container port.
- Intelligent infrastructure: i.e. optimisation by means of artificial intelligence for a better and more sustainable traffic flow
- New services from new technologies: for example, the use of unmanned drones
- Sustainable solutions for cities and citizens: i.e. mobility that is ecologically sustainable and energy-efficient
Additional key activities included 45 demonstrations, 20 technical visits and 4 Hamburg tours, as well as an extensive start-up programme. Up to 15,000 visitors and 3,500 international delegates visited Hamburg’s exhibition halls and Congress Center in October.
homePORT / dronePort
homePORT is an innovation campus and urban maritime 'regulatory sandbox', or Reallabor, located in the heart of the Port of Hamburg. Its aim is to provide innovative and ambitious port actors, science, technology companies and start-ups with a free space to try things out, experiment and collaborate with other partners and actors.
In addition to a Container Campus, which serves as a focal point for the community, the Reallabor also includes access to port infrastructures. As an "Urban Tech Playground", homePORT already offers a range of corresponding test areas on water, air and land.
During the ITS World Congress, homePORT became dronePORT: Various drone demonstrations took place on the exclusive demonstration area during the entire congress week. In addition to the drones, other exhibitors demonstrated projects on 3D printing and sensor technology.
