Despite a decrease of 12.0 per cent, China maintained its position as Hamburg's most important partner country with 2.2 million TEU. The United States followed in second place with 653,000 TEU, marking an 8.0 percent increase. Against the trend, a new record volume was achieved in Hamburg's trade with the USA. Additionally, positive trends were observed in container traffic with Finland (+14.0 percent), the UK (+15.8 percent), and India (+5.6 percent). Mexico also set a new record for direct terminal traffic with a 33.6% increase to 113,000 TEU. Other promising growth markets such as Vietnam (12.1 percent) and Thailand (+11.5 percent) recorded double-digit growth rates in direct traffic with Hamburg.
