Bulk goods handled in maritime transport — including ore, coal, construction materials, oilseeds, grain, animal feed, fertilisers and mineral oil products — totalled 32.4 million tonnes at the Port of Hamburg in 2025.

A decline in the agri-bulk segment, driven by a weak 2024 grain harvest and increased competitive pressure from the Black Sea region, was partially offset by solid performance in liquid cargo, construction materials and exports of recyclable metals.

Alongside its strong position in general cargo and container handling, Hamburg continued to reinforce its role in 2025 as Germany’s leading port for bulk cargo throughput.
