  This imposing brick building was constructed as early as 1886 and was Hamburg’s first steam power station. The striking chimneys were reconstructed as delicate steel structures and continue to define the building’s appearance to this day. Thanks to a large glass dome, the impressively illuminated chimneys can also be viewed from inside.

  Today, the former boiler house has been given a whole new purpose: as well as a café, it houses the UNESCO World Heritage exhibition and hosts temporary exhibitions of contemporary art in the historic boiler hall.
