HPTI Hamburg Port Training Institute GmbH is a specialised organisation with the explicit business purpose of conceptualising, designing, managing, and executing tailor-made training courses, seminars and study tours for participants from the maritime industry from all over the world. We develop our training programmes for professionals and senior management with particular emphasis on the exchange of practical experience and development of specific skills. Our programmes alternate between theoretical classroom instruction, workshops, case studies and practical, hands-on experience as well as site visits. Our training activities focus on the integration of individual skills and knowledge development into business strategies and long term corporate planning of the participants’ companies and organisations. In the field of Port & Shipping, we conceptualise and conduct training for port operational and managerial personnel from container, general cargo, bulk, and multipurpose terminals, stevedoring firms, and port warehouse operators. Further, we execute skill-improvement training for port pilots, harbour craft skippers and tug masters as well as train-the-trainer courses for many port and transport skills. Our short-term and long-term training courses, professional seminars, workshops and study tours take place in the Port of Hamburg and at clients’ premises overseas. Another field we are engaged in is training and consultancy services in environmental protection, as well as environmental management, including port waste management, reception facilities and pollution control. Within the last years we have gathered ample experience in conceptualising and executing environmental protection and management training courses and projects in different parts of the world, in close co-operation with local authorities and counterparts. Parallel to training interventions, we have carried out studies on waste management planning in ports, on contingency planning and on Environmental Impact Assessment. These studies provide basic data i.e. for the establishment of Environmental Management Systems. Skillful and well-versed operations know-how in trans-boundary logistics chains based on the close relationship to our sister companies engaged in logistics operations distinguishes the logisticians who have taken part in a certificate training. HPTI is one of today seven institutions in Germany accredited to provide training according to the standards set by the European Logistics Association (ELA).
