Hansaport's dry bulk terminal is specialised in handling coal and ore. Compared internationally, it is highly automated, making it one of the especially high-performance handlers for dry bulk. The dry bulk is carried inland using two of the most environmentally-friendly modes of transport, rail and inland waterways. Hansaport's rail loading terminal sends more than a dozen ore trains to the steel works in Salzgitter and Eisenhüttenstadt daily.
