Brunsbüttel Ports GmbH, as a company of the owner-managed SCHRAMM group, is the owner and operator of the three ports in Brunsbüttel: Elbehafen, Oilport, and Port of Ostermoor. Located at the junction of the River Elbe and the Kiel Canal, these ports are central supply hubs within the ChemCoast Park Brunsbüttel and the Hamburg Metropolitan Region for the handling of bulk cargo, general cargo, heavy cargo, and liquid cargo.
In particular, through the provision of the necessary infrastructure for the operation of a floating LNG terminal, the Elbehafen of Brunsbüttel has evolved—alongside its function as a universal port—into a national supply hub for the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Another forward-looking project is the planned development of a central CO₂ hub at the site. In the future, Brunsbüttel is to function as a logistics hub for the intermediate storage, subsequent utilization (Carbon Capture and Utilization, CCU), and onward transport to secure storage sites (Carbon Capture and Storage, CCS). As a result, the Elbehafen is expected— in addition to its role as a logistics and energy hub—to develop into a significant export hub for CO₂.
The Brunsbüttel port network is also a strong logistics partner in the Hamburg region and operates as a service provider at four locations there for industrial customers from various sectors.
