Merkers Adventure Mines – World of White Gold
Merkers Adventure Mines near Bad Salzungen in Thüringia take visitors into the wonderful world of potash miners. They reach a depth of 500 metres in
a hoisting cage, then commence an underground tour taking them to a depth of 800 metres, where the crystal grotto is an astonishing spectacle. Additional attractions are the historic Gold Room, where US troops discovered the Reichsbank’s cash and gold reserves shortly before the war ended; the ‘Grossbunker’ concert hall with a fascinating laser show; and the crystal grotto, unique worldwide and awarded the title of ‘National Geotop’. The mine also offers a special ambience for concerts, sporting contests and company events. Guided tours
