Opposite Überseebrücke and on the other side of the Elbe lies the Norderwerft shipyard. This yard on Reiherstieg has been carrying out ship repairs and refits ever since 1906. The yard has three dry-docks as well as three berths on the quay.

Among the vessels launched here was the “Bunte Kuh” (“Colourful Cow”) that was deployed on the passenger service between Hamburg and Heligoland until 1963.
