TUHH provides information regarding funding options for ‘Motorways of the Sea’
Over 50 guests took advantage of the invitation extended by Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) to attend a presentation entitled “European Aid Programmes for ‘Motorways of the Sea’ Projects” at the Hafen-Klub Hamburg on 21 April.
The event was organised within the scope of the EU’s ‘StratMoS’ project, which aims to relocate goods traffic from the roads to high performance, maritime-based intermodal logistics chains, thus also making use of the corresponding hinterland logistics facilities. 29 project partners from Norway, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Great Britain are collaborating on the project. In addition to Hamburg University of Technology the StratMoS project is also supported by the City of Hamburg’s Ministry of Economic and Labour Affairs and Port of Hamburg Marketing e.V.
Hilde Kammerer and Georg Henkelmann from the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development provided information regarding assistance given and experience gained when applying for funding from the federal government perspective. Dr Bernd Seidel of the Marco Polo Kontaktstelle Niedersachsen (Marco Polo Point of Contact Lower Saxony) spoke on the topic “Companies as drivers of the Motorways of the Sea”. Roman Poersch (BMT Transport Solutions) reported on Sassnitz-Trelleborg Motorway of the Seas’ successful application for funds and Dr Philine Gaffron and Jutta Wolff gave a presentation on the toolbox developed by the TUHH for making MoS funding applications.
Following this, guests had the opportunity to discuss possible project applications with Hamburg participation during a tour of the harbour.
