HPC Hamburg Port Consulting and Navis Embark on Strategic Collaboration

HPC Hamburg Port Consulting GmbH (HPC), a subsidiary of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), and Navis, the global market leader for terminal management systems, reached an agreement regarding a collaboration at the beginning of this year. Both companies will work together on projects related to the roll-out and optimisation of the NAVIS N4 system at container terminals around the world. In doing so, HPC will focus on special customer requirements and training. As part of this, HPC is the premium partner for the implementation of N4 at all three HHLA container terminals in Hamburg.

Henning Kinkhorst, Managing Director of HPC Hamburg Port Consulting GmbH, is pleased with the decision: “The collaboration with Navis for the roll-out of the N4 terminal management system in ports and handling companies worldwide complements our strongly expanding strategic IT consulting business unit. We are able to contribute our extensive knowledge of ports to this collaboration, where we benefit in particular from our many years of experience with the integration of processes at the interface between people, machines and IT systems. Our strategic goal is to establish a global competence centre for consulting and training in connection with terminal management systems. In view of our collaboration with Navis, it is important to us that we will continue to be able to provide expert and impartial advice to our port and terminal customers when it comes to IT strategy and other matters.”

HPC is an ideal partner for the introduction of a terminal management system and for tackling the complex challenges that are associated with such a roll-out as a result of the company’s extensive experience in the areas of IT project management, requirements management, test management, test automation, migration management and change management as well as with roll-out support and terminal optimisation. In recent years, HPC has in particular occupied a strong market segment regarding the implementation of IT systems in automated container terminals.

In preparation for this collaboration, IT experts at HPC underwent a certification programme for the implementation and configuration of N4. HPC has already successfully completed an initial project related to the roll-out. Additional international projects are set to begin.

HPC’s parent company, HHLA, recently announced it would adopt the N4 system at its container terminals in Hamburg.
