FAQ

What does FCL mean?

Answer

FCL is the abbreviation for “full container load” and designates the transport of a packed container from the consignor to the consignee (door-to-door transport).

The forwarder hands fully loaded container over to the carrier. When the container arrives at the port of arrival it is passed on to the forwarder there.

What does LCL mean?

Answer

LCL is the abbreviation for “less than full container load.” Cargo from various consignors is consolidated into one container.

The forwarder delivers his goods to the carrier. In a container freight station the cargo is packed into containers together with freight from other forwarders (stuffing).

In the port of arrival the containers are stripped in the local container freight station and the goods are shipped to their individual destinations.
