St. Petersburg Office

The Port of Hamburg Marketing (HHM) representative office in the Russian Federation was officially opened on the day of the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg, on 27 May 2003. It is the latest addition to the network of HHM representative offices. Since the day it opened, the representative office has been managed by Dmitry Wassiljew, a man with a wealth of professional experience working both in the port of St. Petersburg as well as with leading Russian transport companies. The person in charge of administration is Ms. Olga Starodubtseva.

Since 2005, the Port of Hamburg Marketing office in St. Petersburg has also represented the interests of the Senate Chancellery of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg; Ms. Natalja Berezhkova is responsible for this area.

St. Petersburg is the biggest and most important Russian port on the Baltic Sea, and the partnership with Hamburg has a history going back many years. In 2003, the volume of cargo moved between Hamburg and St. Petersburg amounted to 246,000 TEU. In 2006, container traffic between the two ports was almost 600,000 TEU. The two ports are currently linked by 11 container feeder services. Additional there are ferry services from St. Petersburg to Kiel, Lübeck and Cuxhaven. Transhipment levels between Hamburg and Russia are increasing by 30 to 40 per cent every year.

The main brief of the Port of Hamburg representative office in St. Petersburg is to establish and broker contacts between businesses in Hamburg and in Russia, and to provide them with information about the respective markets.

Hamburg businesses and the Port of Hamburg representative office in St. Petersburg participate in the TransRussia trade fair held in Moscow every year. In addition, the Port of Hamburg representative office in St. Petersburg also takes part in conferences and other events organised by the transport sector. The Port of Hamburg representative office in St. Petersburg also maintains contacts with partners in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and Ukraine.
