Shenzhen

Shenzhen is situated in Southern China, near Hong Kong. The port’s coastline is 22,149.7 metres long, with altogether 140 berths.

In terms of TEU, in 2009 China could claim seven of the world’s top 15 container ports. With container throughput of 18.3 million TEU in 2009, Shenzhen took fourth place among the world’s Top 15. Of the 131 international container liner services from Shenzhen, 54 sail to America (of which 3 to South America), 21 to Europe, 5 to Australia, 13 to the Mediterranean, 7 to the Near East, 1 to the Red Sea, 1 to Africa and 29 to Asia. Around 560 vessels call at the Port of Shenzhen every month.

The port partnership between Shenzhen and the Port of Hamburg commenced in July 2007.
