Record attendance at Port of Hamburg reception in Vienna

The expectations of the around 400 guests at this year’s Port of Hamburg reception in Vienna on 29 April were particularly high. Accompanying Port of Hamburg Marketing Chairman Claudia Roller and the Vienna representative of the Port of Hamburg Alexander Till, this year the First Mayor of the Free and Hanseatic City, Ole von Beust, also welcomed the Port’s guests and partners. Hamburg’s mayor visited Vienna with a delegation of prominent personalities including 60 representatives of the Metropolitan Region.

Port of Hamburg Marketing Chairman Claudia Roller stressed in her welcoming speech that the port companies, the city of Hamburg and the Hamburg Port Authority have seen little reason to change their long-term forecasts and so are sticking with their investment plans. In the name of businesses from Hamburg and the Metropolitan Region she thanked the representatives of the Austrian transport industry for their cooperation and support in the handling of consignments that pass through the Port of Hamburg.

Hamburg’s Mayor Ole von Beust referred in his speech to the many years of good relations between Hamburg and Vienna, going right back to the 16th century. He assured Austrian freight forwarding companies that the upgrading measures Hamburg is planning will be continued, and that Hamburg will still be equal to all the expectations of the industry in future. The numerous guests who were present rewarded this speech of the First Mayor with a prolonged round of applause.

The Director of the Port of Vienna, Commercial Councillor Walter Edinger, once again emphasised in his speech the historic links between Austria and the Hanseatic City, and referred in glowing terms to the many years of excellent relations with Hamburg’s port industry and the Port of Hamburg Marketing representatives in Vienna.
