Port of Hamburg – gateway to the world
One of the principal markets for the Port of Hamburg are the Far East routes.
An average of 26 full-container services from the Far East docked at the Port of Hamburg each week in 2011.
There were also nine liner services with North American destinations, eleven bound for South America and 20 to Africa.
Almost 50 feeder services covered the North and Baltic Sea region.
Sixteen new scheduled liner services were launched in 2011. Four of these service the Far East region, three sail for North America, two for West Africa, one each for South America
and the Indian subcontinent, and six cover the Baltic Sea region.
