Munich Office

The Munich office was opened over 25 years ago and has been taking care of export and import businesses in Bavaria since then.It has also been acting as a partner for Switzerland and the German state of Baden-Württemberg since January 2004.

Office director Jürgen Behrens and his long-time assistant Renate Haenel think of themselves as a “platform for communication and information,” as well as a liaison between Southern German or Swiss businesses and companies located in and around Hamburg.

Among other things, they organise customer events such as informational conferences or symposia on current issues in the transportation business. These events are arranged in cooperation with local Chambers of Commerce and other organisations.

Connections to the hinterland have developed into another focus of activities. Intensive exchange of information with railway operators and marketing research are among their central activities in this field. During the last ten years, not only the Port of Hamburg, but also Southern Germany and Switzerland were able to achieve very high growth rates in cargo volumes.

The choice of Munich as a site for the Port of Hamburg office has proven to be the right decision. This is backed up by the bi-annual “transport logistic” trade fair in Munich, which is by far the largest logistics fair worldwide.
