Dar es Salaam

The Port of Hamburg’s cooperation with the Port of Dar-es-Salaam has been in effect since 2007.

Dar-es-Salaam Tanzania’s is main port, handling 95 percent of the country’s international trade, and moreover serving as the link with the world’s oceans for the landlocked countries of Malawi, the Congo, Burundi, Rwanda and Uganda.

The port has a quay length of around 2,000 metres, with 11 deepwater berths. Around two-thirds of goods handled consist of liquid cargoes, the remainder being general cargoes and containers. Coffee, tea, cotton and seeds as well as sugar and tobacco, are important exports. Machinery, chemicals, fertilizers and motor vehicles are imported.
