Budapest Office
Budapest Office
Port of Hamburg Marketing has had its own office in Budapest since August 1, 1992. It is the second oldest port agency in the Hungarian capital.
The Port of Hamburg remains the most important seaport for Hungary’s seaborne foreign trade. Hungarian transit cargo via Hamburg has grown considerably since 1992 and has increased tenfold during the last sixteen years.
Hungary’s growing importance as a hub for intermodal transports to Eastern Europe and as a turntable for cargo on east-west and north-south routes gives reason to expect further new business.
The Budapest port agency is a member in the German-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce as well as in the Association of Hungarian Forwarders and Logistics Service Providers. Its customers are made up of forwarding and transport companies, shipping lines, intermodal freight companies, industrial and commercial firms and governmental organisations and ministries.
Representatives of the port office often participate as speakers or guests at conferences and discussion forums at home and abroad. Their work helps spread and strengthen the Port of Hamburg’s good reputation in Hungary and consolidates its position as the most important overseas port for the country.
The office’s annual port evening is traditionally the best known and an extremely well received event in the Hungarian transportation branch. The prominence of this event is another sign of the status that Hamburg and the HHM team enjoy in Budapest.
