In the newly published 2012 edition of the Port of Hamburg Handbook, Port of Ham-burg Marketing again presents an overview of the port’s capabilities on a total of 136 pages. The current edition, published in both German and English, provides business partners and friends of the Port of Hamburg with interesting and useful information about the wide range of efficient services offered by what are mainly SMEs operating in Hamburg’s seaport-related industries and in the partner ports within the region.
The Port of Hamburg Marketing Representative Office in Vienna has a new location. Alexander Till, Port of Hamburg Marketing (HHM)’s Representative in Austria, ceremonially opened the new office at Seitenhafenstrasse 15 in Vienna with an inaugural reception on 21 February. The Port of Hamburg fulfills an essential function as a hub for Austria’s seaborne foreign trade. In recent years Vienna as a logistics centre and port has made excellent progress as an interface for Southern and Eastern European traffic, and as a foreign trade partner for the Port of Hamburg.
Our representative Anne Thiesen recently made a series of visits to trading partners on a tour through South China to mark the opening of Port of Hamburg Marketing (HHM)’s new representative office in Hong Kong in January 2012. She was accompanied by Lars Anke, HHM Representative from Shanghai. The tour was notable for a warm welcome and frank interest from the trading partners, and some interesting discussions.
Port of Hamburg Marketing (HHM) is to open its own Port Representative Office in Hong Kong in January 2012. HHM’s existing cooperation with the German Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong will therefore cease at the end of 2011.
Cooperation with the office in Shanghai headed by Lars Anke will continue. The two HHM representative offices will coordinate their activities in the Chinese market and afford each other mutual support.
With the “Hanse Office”, a joint representative office of the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and Port of Hamburg Marketing was opened in Mumbai, India’s leading port city, in January 2011.
In the German capital represents the Port of Hamburg’s interests vis-à-vis political, trade associations and institutions are represented by Henning Finck.
Under a cooperation agreement, since November 2010 the Deputy Chief Executive of Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and the head of its representative office in Berlin has also cultivated contacts and done press and information work there on behalf of the Port of Hamburg.
In cooperation with the Propeller Club Basel, Port of Hamburg Marketing (HHM) hosted a port soiree for representatives of the transport and logistics sector in northern Switzerland on 12 April 2011. A total of 160 guests, including 20 from Hamburg and its metropolitan region, accepted the invitation to attend this event at the Hotel Mercure Europe Basel, where they were welcomed by Mr Thomas W. Rickli, President of the Propeller Club Basel, and Jürgen Behrens, Manager of the HHM representative office for Munich and Switzerland.
The Port of Hamburg is the central located hub port and logistics centre in Northern Europe. For Finland’s import and export industry Hamburg is an important overseas port offering worldwide liner services and, as a universal port, all special services for project cargo and bulk cargo. Hamburg is for example the most important container port in foreign trade with China and India, ahead of all other major ports in Europe.
