Hamburg is Germany’s most important fruit port. HHLA Frucht- and Kühlzentrum (HHLA Frucht) handles imported fruit of most types, also providing interim storage. With more than 700,000 tons per year handled, the banana has priority. Maintaining an uninterrupted refrigerated chain and exhaustive checks are absolutely essential for this sensitive fruit.

Certification under the International Food Standard (IFS) as an indispensable module in the transport chain is a matter of course at HHLA Frucht. Systematic recording and monitoring of palletized goods using advanced bar-code technology is constantly being extended and ensures virtually paperless data interchange. Importers and forwarders can rely on a verifiable, seamless transport chain.
